“You should sit in meditation for twenty minutes every day – unless you’re too busy; then you should sit for an hour.” – Zen Proverb

Green Tara

I haven’t posted anything for a while as I have been ‘too busy’. I spend time with others helping them unpick the messy bits and then I fall into my own tangled busy mess in the gaps between. Every person I work with teaches me something. I listen to their stories and their struggles and their honesty and it is an exchange. I am so grateful, as it is a daily reminder of what fearless voyagers working for change in themselves and in the universe look like. I have been trying to carve out a daily slot for my own practice; for meditation, walking, management of my chronic condition. It is so easy to do the other thing sometimes. Then, our time has gone. We were watering the garden when the roof was on fire.

I hope everyone is coping well in these strange times, whether you are too busy, or wish you were busier.

Stay well, and carve out some time for the things that matter.

I want to share this beautiful talk by my old friend Gelong Thubten, who continues to inspire me with his tireless focus and wisdom. He makes me laugh and he explains things clearly. If you are interested in meditation, this talk ends with a short guided practice.
